A different kind of school
Our vision for Kawartha Farm school is quite different then what the traditional role of the public school plays in most households. Our Canadian economy is getting more and more difficult for most families to afford and we recognize sending your child to a private school is expensive and may feel out of reach for a lot of families.
At Kawartha Farm School we are building a closed economy of like minded working class families. Our intention is for every student to begin a journey of growth within our program, where your child will build personal responsibility and life skills through contribution to your families needs by "growing" groceries for you. Each student will have their very own 'Family Garden Plot' within our commercial sized greenhouse where they will learn to effectively cultivate food throughout the seasons - everything they grow in their plots will go home to your family.
Additionally - raising livestock and animal husbandry projects and activities will not only enrich our curriculum but will result in the production of clean, grass-fed & chemical free meat animals which will be processed and available for sale back to our school's families at non-profit cost. Opening up opportunity for your family to benefit from access to high quality meats your student contributed to raising.
It is our hope that as our Farm School family grows that more synergies can be found within our circle of families where trade, barter and co-operative opportunities to support each other with skills, resources and community service will emerge.
